Hard to find...sits behind a house...but know what they are doing with repairs... shoe repair is hard to find and so I was glad to find them
Pretty decent if all you want is some new soles for your shoes. They on;y use vibram soles so it can become a bit expensive.
So great to have something like this in town. He was friendly and did a good job on my husband's boots. Location is not ideal, right off a busy road, I almost missed it and found it a little tricky to cross the road on my way home. But we'd go there again if the need arises.
I was able to get my heels fixed in under 10 minutes. Great work, friendly service, and excellent value. Plus, it's always good to support local small businesses! I will definitely be coming back should I have another shoe problem.
I had read not so great reviews before I took my boots in to the shop but I realize that there are always those people who are not satisfied no matter what you do, so I wanted to develop my own opinion. Since this is the only cobbler shop in the entire valley I decided to give it a try versus driving to Ogden. I took two pair of boots to them; one needed the heel patched because it split out, the other the zipper was misaligned. He told me it would be three days which was fine. I went back on the right day and the patch boot was ready but he had "forgotten" to do my other set. My boots that he fixed was back together yes, but it looks terrible. They are a tan suede and the lining is black that was showing through and he used a cream thread. He didn't match anything. He didn't even try. And I know you can get heavy gauge thread for leather because of my moms business.Let's just say I was not impressed with the workmanship but I recognized it was a difficult job and trying to redo it again would make it worse. This was a Friday, he said the zipper boots would be ready Tuesday the following week. I didn't make it to that area until the Wednesday a week following the Tuesday he said they would be ready. I walked in and he grabbed my boots and said "Oh! Your boots need completely new zippers." I asked why he didn't call me? He said because he is in the middle of buying the shop from his partner. My feelings are, regardless of what else you have going on barring death or massive injury to the head, you call your clients with information like that, not wait till they have driven halfway across the valley to get to your shop just to have you tell them that you effectively did nothing to reconcile the issue you brought your item in for. One it is a wasted trip, and two it is bad business behavior if you want to keep your clients. I asked how much it would be to replace the zipper and he initially gave me the formula for how he would calculate the price then sat and looked at me waiting for me to figure it out. I just looked back and asked again how much it would cost. He then added it up which is was like $4 for the zipper then like $8/inch or something. He told me it would cost $76 for both zippers. Only one needed repaired! Then he tried to convince me that that price was justifiable because nobody else wants to deal with zippers because they are such a pain, like I should feel lucky he was even willing to do it. On top of all this his workmanship was terrible. My mother owned a leather business for nearly 30 years where she did everything from fixing the screw-ups of other so called professionals to intricate custom work. She is an incredible seamstress and she taught me. I have been teaching my children and frankly my 8 year old daughters stitchwork looks better than the work this guy did.
The zipper didn't need to be replaced, it just needed to be done correctly- he should have realigned the teeth with the pull and made sure the pull was functional and replace it if it wasn't which is likely the problem because the teeth are just fine, but now the teeth aren't even lined up in the staggering pattern necessary to fold together; after he realigned things he should have tacked the ends of the zipper together so that they wouldn't come apart while he was seeing them back into the boot. My mom would staple them then pull the staple back out after it was sewn back in. But no, the two parts of the zipper are way too far apart to conceivably zip together and stay. He took a simple fix and botched it to the point that I have to go somewhere else to get it fixed. I would do it myself but I don't have the proper machines to get inside the boot. So now I get to decide if I love my boots enough to go somewhere else to get them fixed. And me being the nice person I am, I paid him for the "work he did". After I got home and told my husband and mom, and I got told by both I shouldn't have paid him for it since he did such a crappy job. Now I wish I hadn't. All I know is that I'm not going back and I DO NOT recommend anyone else go either.
